This year, Kindergarten painted designs on canvas using acrylic paint. The theme was inspired by the book, Jabuti the Tortoise: A Trickster Tale from the Amazon by Gerald McDermott. Kindergarten students used acrylic paint to create six designs based on a variety of animals from the rain forest (a parrot, tree frog, chameleon, jaguar, monkey, and Jabuti the tortoise himself).
First Grade painted ceramic glaze to small pieces of clay tiles to create mosaics based on Frank Lloyd Wright's geometric window designs. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see photos of the work in progress.
Second Grade used acrylic paint to paint designs on linoleum floor mats. The designs were based on pop culture video games (Candy and Soda Crush, Agree Birds, Minecraft, and "Old School" - vintage Atari).
Third Grade students painted designs using ceramic glaze to a variety of bisque ware (a leaf platter and bowl set, a canister set, "Frosty the Snowman" hat sculpture, a set of candy jars, a large bowl with feet, a gnome sculpture, and a tea pot set.
As a bonus/grand finally piece, the entire student body (K-3) painted a "School Wide Canvas".
Works in Progress.
